Condor Ferries donates more than £800 to MARINElife
Condor Ferries donated £880 to Dorset-based charity, MARINElife last week. Condor's Captain, Tim Coutts handed over the cheque to Rick Morris and Glynis Northwood-Long from MARINElife onboard Condor Liberation as part of its ongoing partnership.
Condor has raised the donated money by offering discounted MARINElife day trips to Guernsey on its fast ferry sailings from Poole, with £5 from each day trip going to the charity.
MARINElife is a Dorset based research, education and conservation charity conducting year round scientific surveys of whales, dolphins and seabirds. Condor Ferries has supported MARINElife's volunteer Wildlife Officer programme since 2014, in addition to the monthly surveys already being conducted on its fast and conventional ferries running from the UK to Jersey and Guernsey. During this time, a wide variety of marine wildlife including seabirds have been sighted from Common Dolphin, Harbour Porpoise and Minke Whale, to Great Skua, Manx shearwater and Gannet.
MARINElife's Wildlife Officers can be found onboard a number of Condor's cross-Channel sailings, with day trips offering passengers the opportunity to marvel in the marine mammals and seabirds in the English Channel for an unforgettable day out on the water.
Tim Coutts - Condor Ferries Captain, commented: “We’re delighted to be able to donate £880 to our local charity partner, MARINElife. We have been offering MARINElife day trips to Guernsey for several years now, and their popularity continues to grow. We will soon be starting a new season of day trips this summer that will help to raise further funds for MARINElife to continue its important research.”
MARINElife’s Chairman Rick Morris, added: “We are very grateful to receive this donation from Condor Ferries and its customers. All our Wildlife Officers that provide the MARINElife day trip offering with Condor are volunteers, who give their time for their passion of marine life and ensuring their conservation. This donation will enable us to continue our research to achieve our charitable aims.”
To make the most of the wonderful wildlife in the Channel, Condor Ferries will again be offering MARINElife day trip sailings from Poole to Guernsey throughout the summer, starting on 2 May. With a Wildlife Officer onboard, birdwatchers, marine enthusiasts and nature novices alike, will have the chance to discover the various species in both air and sea, learn more about how to spot and identify species making for the perfect day out for all the family.
MARINElife day trip tickets cost £22 per person, which includes a £5 donation to MARINElife. Customers can receive £10 off when booked using promotion code 'MARINEDAYS'.
