Travel to the Channel Islands this spring for Heritage and much more

This spring, the Channel Islands are hosting a Heritage Festival that’s sure to be a hit with all the family.  From sea kayaking trips around the Islands’ spectacular coastline to gin-tasting sessions and guided tours of Jersey War Tunnels to coastal scrambles and photography workshops, there’s an action-packed calendar of hundreds of events and activities running until 10 May 2016. 

The theme for this year’s Heritage Festival is celebrating the Islands’ timeless relationship with the sea, offering visitors the chance to learn more about famous seafarers, maritime heritage, shipbuilding and even take part in a family-friendly ‘fire and foraging’ workshop.

Situated in Baie de St Malo between England and France, the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey enjoy some of the best weather in the UK and can be reached in less than three hours.  Travelling with Condor Ferries from Poole, on board high speed ferry, Condor Liberation, the trip begins with a relaxing cruise across the English Channel.  Although one of the busiest shipping routes in the world, the English Channel is also home to a variety of whales, dolphins and sea birds and you could be lucky enough to catch a glimpse.

With activities galore all tied in to this year’s Heritage Festival, there’s plenty to keep all the family occupied on Jersey and Guernsey as part of a longer holiday.  However, if you’ve only got a few hours to spare, then why not take a day trip from Poole to Guernsey to get a taste of what the Island has to offer?  What’s more, you can even take your car if you’d like to explore a bit further than the capital, St Peter Port.
