Condor Ferries experiences uplift in passenger numbers travelling to the Continent
Condor Ferries has reported an increase in the number of passenger bookings on its UK to France routes over the last few weeks.
With sailings between Poole and St Malo, via the Channel Islands, Condor Ferries provides an alternative route for travellers heading to Brittany and Western France.
The company has seen a 6.2% increase in bookings for July in comparison to the same period last year – which was also strong for the ferry operator.
Alicia Andrews, Executive Director – Commercial at Condor Ferries said: “We are experiencing strong demand for travel from Poole to the Brittany region of France at present. Our bookings are certainly higher than forecast for this time of year on our Poole to St Malo and Portsmouth to Cherbourg routes. Some of this increase in demand is probably down to the strength of the pound against the Euro, which makes the Continent very attractive for holidaymakers looking for a spot of sunshine.
“However, it’s also likely that some of the surge in demand we are seeing can be attributed to the issues facing passengers travelling on the short sea routes between Dover and Calais.”
Condor Ferries offers frequent sailings - taking as little as 5½ hours - from the UK to St Malo, via a connecting service in either Jersey or Guernsey – allowing passengers the opportunity to break up their journey briefly and enjoy some time in the Islands before continuing on to the Continent. This can prove particularly appealing to passengers travelling with young children or pets.
Passengers onboard Condor Ferries service via the Channel Islands can also take advantage of a wide selection of genuine duty free shopping, with savings of up to 40% on a wide range of wines and spirits, perfumes and cosmetics, confectionery and toys.
Condor Ferries still has some capacity on its routes from Poole to St Malo via the Channel Islands and Portsmouth to Cherbourg over the coming weeks and passengers wishing to travel can find out more or book on Condor Ferries website.
