To mark this momentous occasion, local residents and eagle-eyed ferry fans can join Condor Ferries down at Baiter Park in Poole to wave off Condor Liberation, as she leaves for the Channel Islands on her first official sailing.
Offering the best vantage point, Condor Liberation will sail across the harbour, in full view from Baiter Park just after 09.30. With free refreshments available*, well-wishers are invited to help wave off the ship on her maiden voyage with Condor flags, cheering her on her way out of the harbour.
Any flag wavers will also be in with the chance of winning themselves a trip onboard Condor’s new state-of-the-art ferry – if they’re lucky enough to get their hands on a flag bearing a gold star. Five special gold-starred flags will be available – the lucky recipients of which will each win a free day trip for two to Guernsey onboard Condor Liberation.
Alicia Andrews, Executive Director – Commercial at Condor Ferries, commented: “Our inaugural sailing of Condor Liberation is just days away now, and anyone not booked to travel onboard can still join us to celebrate. Condor Liberation’s first sailing will mark many months of hard work by the Condor team and our partner companies – it is going to be quite a momentous occasion and we’d love for as many local residents to join in these celebrations. Baiter Park will offer the best viewing point to see her sail out of the harbour – we hope the people from her home port of Poole will come out to celebrate with us and wave Condor Liberation off.”
Condor Liberation – the first ferry of its kind in Northern Europe – marks £50million of investment and a new era in sea travel. Hundreds of passengers are already booked to travel on her inaugural sailing from Poole to the Channel Islands on Friday 27 March, but there is still limited availability for any last minute passengers wishing to join them on the celebratory crossing.
Condor’s new ferry, Condor Liberation, will sail daily from Poole to the Channel Island’s throughout the summer, offering more opportunities to travel, improved reliability and a much greater level of comfort with smoother journeys.
Although demand is already high for the first sailing from Poole, spaces are still available for booking.
*Free refreshments will be available for the first 50 people
